AAP Gujarat held a major Parivartan Sabha in Vapi ahead of local body elections, raising concerns over pollution, infrastructure, labour rights, and civic governance.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gujarat organised a major Parivartan Sabha in Vapi ahead of the upcoming local body elections, highlighting pressing issues such as pollution, infrastructure gaps, labour rights, and civic governance in the region.
The event reportedly witnessed several leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress joining AAP, reflecting the party’s growing appeal among political activists and local residents.
Prominent AAP leaders, including State President Isudan Gadhvi, MLAs Gopal Italia and Chaitar Vasava, State Organisation General Secretary Manoj Sorathiya, South Zone in-charge Rambhai Dhaduk, Valsad Lok Sabha in-charge Rajivbhai Pande, and district president Jitendra Sharma, attended the Sabha alongside numerous local office-bearers and party workers. The gathering drew a large crowd of residents concerned about civic and environmental issues.
Addressing the audience, Isudan Gadhvi shared insights from his previous work as a journalist covering tribal regions of south Gujarat and neighbouring areas. He expressed concern over the worsening air and water pollution in Vapi and criticised delays in infrastructure development, including unfinished bridges. Gadhvi also highlighted the lack of quality government schools, hospitals, and basic civic amenities in the area.

Chaitar Vasava, speaking to the media after the event, emphasised labour rights issues raised by local workers, including the denial of salary slips, provident fund, gratuity, bonuses, overtime payments, and mediclaim facilities. He also questioned the proposed inclusion of Nayakwada and 11 other villages into the Vapi Municipal Corporation, citing potential violations of the Fifth Schedule of the Constitution and the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act (PESA). Vasava argued that such expansion could impact political reservations and land rights in tribal areas, while rejecting BJP claims about AAP workers allegedly joining the ruling party as misleading.
During the Sabha, Gopal Italia criticised the state administration’s governance mechanisms, alleging they suppress public grievances. He raised issues related to illegal liquor trade, infrastructure delays, and prioritisation of political interests over public welfare. Italia reaffirmed AAP’s commitment to representing workers, farmers, students, and marginalised communities, urging voters to support the party in the forthcoming elections.
Manoj Sorathiya questioned the outcomes of three decades of BJP governance in Gujarat, citing problems with roads, drinking water, and public infrastructure. He highlighted concerns about the growing assets of elected representatives, stressing the need for transparency and accountability. Sorathiya described the upcoming local body elections as a critical political milestone, positioning AAP as a credible alternative political force in the state.
The Parivartan Sabha concluded with party leaders urging residents to actively participate in local self-government elections, advocate for environmental protection, and raise concerns about governance, livelihoods, and civic welfare.
