AAP leaders, including Payal Sakariya, were detained in Surat while heading to a temple on Guru Purnima to pray over Gujarat’s paper leak controversy.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Gujarat government of suppressing democratic voices after several party leaders, including Gujarat Mahila Morcha President Payal Sakariya, were detained by police while on their way to a temple on the occasion of Guru Purnima.

According to AAP, the leaders intended to offer prayers seeking wisdom for the state government after the recent alleged paper leak controversy. However, police intervened and detained the group before they could reach the temple.

AAP Questions Police Action

Reacting to the incident, Payal Sakariya strongly criticized the administration, questioning why visiting a temple had become grounds for detention.

She alleged that the action reflected an atmosphere of intimidation and claimed that peaceful democratic activities were being prevented.

Paper Leak Allegations Intensify

During her interaction with the media, Sakariya alleged that the Gujarat government had failed to take meaningful action over the recent examination paper leak.

She claimed that although the examination paper was reportedly leaked on the 20th of the month, no strict action had been initiated against those responsible.

Sakariya also questioned statements made by the state’s Health Minister, alleging that officials had attempted to downplay the issue despite what she described as multiple examination questions becoming public before the test.

Government’s Response Under Scrutiny

The AAP leader accused the state administration of failing to protect the interests of students over the past decade.

According to her, repeated examination paper leak incidents have damaged the future of thousands of young aspirants seeking government jobs.

She further questioned whether the government would acknowledge a paper leak only if an entire question paper was circulated publicly.

‘Youth Deserve Better’

Sakariya also criticized the state leadership, alleging that ordinary students were being ignored while those in power remained disconnected from public concerns.

She argued that the government should focus on creating a transparent examination system instead of suppressing opposition voices.

Demand for Accountability

AAP demanded an independent investigation into the latest paper leak allegations and called for strict action against everyone responsible.

The party stated that students and their families deserve fairness, transparency, and accountability in recruitment examinations.

Warning of Future Protests

The party warned that if concrete action is not taken against those responsible for the paper leak, AAP will intensify its campaign across Gujarat.

Party leaders said the Guru Purnima visit was meant to be a peaceful prayer gathering, but if the government continued to ignore public concerns, larger democratic protests would follow in the coming days.

The incident has added fresh political attention to the ongoing debate over examination transparency and law-and-order issues in Gujarat.
