AAP MLA Gopal Italia backs the Jantar Mantar student protest, urging accountability over paper leaks and calling on citizens to support democratic rights.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Gopal Italia has voiced strong support for the ongoing youth-led protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, urging citizens to stand with students demanding accountability over alleged examination paper leaks and recruitment irregularities. Addressing the issue, the Visavadar MLA said that questioning the government is a fundamental democratic right and appealed to people not to remain silent on issues affecting the country’s youth.
Calls for Accountability in Exam Paper Leak Cases
Gopal Italia said students across the country are raising legitimate concerns over repeated paper leak incidents in competitive examinations, including NEET. According to him, thousands of young aspirants dedicate years of hard work to preparing for these exams, and any irregularity severely impacts their future.
He stated that students have every right to seek answers regarding those responsible for examination irregularities and stressed that transparency and accountability are essential to restore confidence in the education system.
Supports Peaceful Student Demonstration
Referring to the ongoing protest led by student groups at Jantar Mantar, Italia said young people are attempting to bring their concerns before the government through democratic means. He claimed that students participating in the march towards Parliament were peacefully expressing their demands before police intervention.
The AAP leader Gopal Italia criticized the handling of the protest and argued that democratic societies must encourage dialogue rather than suppress dissent. He maintained that citizens should never be discouraged from questioning authorities on matters that directly affect their future.
“This Is a Fight to Protect Democratic Values”
Italia emphasized that the movement should not be viewed as a political campaign against any individual or political party. Instead, he described it as a broader struggle to safeguard constitutional values, democratic rights, and accountability in governance.
He stated that democracy allows every citizen to question elected governments and warned that ignoring public concerns on issues such as education, employment, healthcare, and public services could weaken democratic institutions over time.
Appeals to Citizens to Support Students
Calling upon people across Gujarat and the country, Gopal Italia encouraged citizens to stand in solidarity with students seeking justice. He urged those unable to participate physically in demonstrations to express support through social media and other peaceful democratic platforms.
According to Italia, public participation and awareness are essential for ensuring transparency in recruitment examinations and protecting the future of young aspirants.
The statement comes amid continuing discussions surrounding alleged examination irregularities and student-led demonstrations demanding greater accountability and reforms in the education and recruitment system.
