AAP leader Yogesh Jadwani criticizes BJP citing NCRB data on farmer suicides and rising economic distress in Gujarat.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spokesperson for Gujarat, Yogesh Jadwani, has strongly criticized the BJP-led government, citing alarming figures from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) regarding farmer suicides and overall economic distress in the state.
Referring to NCRB data, Jadwani claimed that India continues to witness a severe agrarian crisis, with approximately 28 farmers and agricultural workers reportedly taking their lives every day. He further stated that in Gujarat alone, 381 farmer suicides were recorded in a single year, with a majority of cases reported from the Saurashtra region.
He alleged that despite electoral promises of doubling farmers’ income, the ground reality remains unchanged, as farmers are still struggling to receive fair prices for their produce. According to him, rising costs of fertilizers, pesticides, seeds, and agricultural inputs have further deepened the crisis in the farming sector.
Yogesh Jadwani also accused the BJP leadership of enabling the circulation of fake agricultural inputs such as counterfeit seeds and fertilizers, claiming that this has severely impacted farmers’ productivity and financial stability.

He further questioned the direction of governance, stating whether India is being transformed from an agriculture-based economy into a politically driven system that ignores farmers’ welfare. He also asked why farmers are being forced into distress and what injustice is being done to them.
Highlighting broader socio-economic concerns, Jadwani cited NCRB figures suggesting that Gujarat recorded around 8,984 suicide cases in a single year, with nearly 71% of the victims being men. He linked this trend to rising economic pressure, limited business opportunities, inflation, and increasing costs of healthcare and education.
According to him, policies such as GST implementation, rising taxes, and inflation have worsened financial stress on common citizens, making daily life increasingly difficult. He claimed that small traders and working-class families are struggling to sustain their livelihoods.
The AAP leader further alleged that while citizens are facing economic hardship, the BJP government is focused on electoral gains and political strategy, rather than addressing public welfare concerns. He also criticized what he described as the misuse of investigative agencies and administrative systems for political purposes.
Yogesh Jadwani emphasized that NCRB is an autonomous institution, and its data should be taken seriously by policymakers. He warned that ignoring such reports reflects poorly on governance and public accountability.
He concluded by urging the government to prioritize farmers and common citizens, stating that failure to address these issues could lead to public dissatisfaction and political consequences in the future.
