The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) (DEPwD), under the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, in partnership with the National Divyangjan Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC), will organize the 24th Divya Kala Mela at Gulshan Ground, Jammu, from February 14 to 24, 2025. The event will be inaugurated tomorrow by Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, along with other distinguished dignitaries and officials.
A testament to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ vision, this distinctive and dynamic event aims to highlight the handmade products, skills, and craftsmanship of Divyang (PwD) entrepreneurs and artisans from across India. The Divya Kala Mela will serve as a significant platform for economic empowerment, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore a diverse range of products, including handicrafts, handlooms, embroidery, packaged food, eco-friendly goods, jewelry, and more, sourced from various states. The fair will be open daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
Advancing Economic Inclusion
The Divya Kala Mela is a groundbreaking initiative designed to empower Divyang artisans by creating marketing opportunities and showcasing their extraordinary talents. As part of a nationwide movement, previous editions have been successfully organized in Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal, Guwahati, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Patna, Nagpur, Pune, and other cities. The Jammu edition will feature participation from approximately 100 Divyang artisans and entrepreneurs, representing around 20 states and Union Territories. The exhibition will showcase a wide array of products, spanning multiple categories.

A key highlight of the event will be the special cultural program, ‘Divya Kala Shakti’, performed by Divyang artists on 24th February 2025, adding to the event’s grandeur.

Beyond exhibitions and performances, the Mela will offer interactive experience zones designed for different disabilities, along with Divyangjan sports activities and showcases of new assistive aids and appliances. This holistic approach ensures that the event is not just a marketplace but a celebration of talent, inclusivity, and empowerment.
