World-renowned luxury carmaker Rolls-Royce is planning a major expansion in India, aiming to make the country one of its key global hubs. Recently, the company’s CEO, Tufan Erginbilgic, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss investment, manufacturing, and skill development plans in India.
India’s economy is currently in a “superfast” growth phase. International agencies like the World Bank and IMF recognize India as one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world. Now, this economic success is set to get a “royal” addition as Rolls-Royce joins hands with the Indian government to contribute to the vision of a “Developed India.”
Rolls-Royce CEO Meets PM Modi
On February 11, CEO Tufan Erginbilgic met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss how Rolls-Royce can support India’s growth and development goals. The company revealed that it is planning to establish its largest global center in India, expand manufacturing operations, and enhance engineering capabilities.
Commenting on the meeting, PM Modi said on X (formerly Twitter), “It was great to meet Rolls-Royce CEO Mr. Tufan Erginbilgic today. We welcome their enthusiasm to expand operations in India and collaborate with our talented youth.” The CEO emphasized that India will serve as a home market for Rolls-Royce, reflecting the company’s long-term commitment to the country.

Previous Discussions and Strategic Plans
Rolls-Royce has already been in discussions with India during previous international visits. In October last year, the company participated in India-UK business talks when UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited India. Erginbilgic stated that Rolls-Royce aims to develop a strong partnership with India, leveraging its expertise to accelerate the country’s journey toward a developed and self-reliant economy.
Collaboration in AI and Technology
The CEO also highlighted plans to collaborate on world-class Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems in India. Rolls-Royce intends to contribute to India’s self-reliance initiatives in sectors such as aerospace, defense, and energy. Through these collaborations, the company aims to support India in becoming a technology-driven, energy-independent nation.
With Rolls-Royce planning to make India a central hub for its global operations, the initiative is expected to generate employment, promote advanced engineering skills, and contribute significantly to India’s “Developed India” mission.
