CM Bhagwant Mann calls every Punjab mother and sister a brand ambassador of Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna as over 75 lakh women register for the scheme.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has described every mother and sister in the state as the “brand ambassador” of the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, saying the initiative is aimed at strengthening women’s dignity, self-respect and financial independence.
According to Mann, more than 75 lakh women have registered under the scheme so far, while a total of ₹3,824.87 crore has been transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts as Satkar Rashi. The state government has set a target of extending the benefits to one crore women.
CM Mann Meets Beneficiary Gurmail Kaur
The Chief Minister recently met Gurmail Kaur, popularly known as Melo, at his residence. She is a beneficiary of the scheme and had gained attention on social media following its launch.
The meeting turned emotional as Gurmail Kaur hugged Mann and blessed him. The Chief Minister presented her with gifts and expressed his happiness at meeting her.
Sharing a video of the interaction, Mann said that meeting Gurmail Kaur had brought him emotional solace. He also thanked the mothers and sisters of Punjab for their participation in making the scheme successful.
Every Mother and Sister Is the Scheme’s Brand Ambassador
Speaking about the initiative, Mann said that every eligible woman in Punjab represents the spirit of the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna.
He described the scheme as a social initiative focused on improving women’s confidence and dignity. The Chief Minister said that financial support can play an important role in helping women become more independent and participate more actively in household and social decisions.
₹3,824.87 Crore Transferred to Women
Mann said the government has transferred ₹3,824.87 crore directly into the bank accounts of women under the scheme. The latest figure includes the second instalment announced for beneficiaries.

The scheme provides ₹1,000 per month to eligible women from the general category, while eligible Scheduled Caste women receive ₹1,500. Women aged 18 years and above who meet the eligibility criteria are being covered under the initiative.
The government has allocated ₹9,300 crore for the scheme, while Mann has said around 97% of women in Punjab are expected to be eligible.
Target to Reach One Crore Women
The Punjab government has set a target of extending the benefits of Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna to one crore women. Mann appealed to eligible women who have not yet registered to complete the registration process and take advantage of the financial assistance.
The Chief Minister also stressed that the direct benefit transfer mechanism is intended to ensure that financial assistance reaches beneficiaries directly through their bank accounts.
Focus on Women’s Financial Independence
Mann said the purpose of the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna goes beyond providing financial assistance. According to him, the initiative is also intended to strengthen women’s sense of dignity and financial autonomy.
He said greater financial independence can help women play a stronger role in household welfare as well as social and economic decision-making. The Punjab government, he added, remains committed to initiatives aimed at women’s welfare and empowerment.
No Eligible Woman Will Be Left Out, Says Mann
The Chief Minister said no eligible beneficiary should remain deprived of the scheme’s benefits. He reiterated that the government would continue working to ensure that eligible women receive the assistance.
Mann also thanked the women of Punjab for their participation and described their support as an important factor behind the reach of the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna.
The scheme has emerged as a major women-focused direct financial assistance programme of the Punjab government, with the administration aiming to expand its coverage to one crore women.
