Arvind Kejriwal in Rajkot says Gujarat will have a people’s government, ending BJP’s oppression, empowering citizens, and supporting farmers’ rights.
AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, during his three-day visit to Gujarat, addressed party workers in Rajkot on Monday, emphasizing that authoritarian rule and oppression by the BJP will no longer be tolerated. He stated that the next Mayor of Rajkot will be from the Aam Aadmi Party, reflecting the growing trust of citizens in the party.
Focusing on Farmers and Their Plight
Kejriwal highlighted the struggles of farmers and their families, saying, “The stories of the affected farmer families brought tears to my eyes.” He recounted the recent incidents in Haddad where peaceful farmers protesting the Karda practice were brutally lathi-charged, subjected to tear gas, and falsely jailed. Out of 88 arrested individuals, 42 have been released on bail while 46 are still in custody.
The AAP leader criticized the Gujarat government for 30 years of mismanagement, stating that during this period, basic infrastructure like roads, schools, and hospitals deteriorated while illegal substances spread across the state. He assured that his party will continue to fight for the rights of the people and ensure justice for those wrongfully imprisoned.

Kejriwal drew parallels with India’s freedom struggle, stating that just as Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel ended British rule, the people of Gujarat will overthrow BJP’s oppressive regime. He warned BJP leaders that their arrogance, similar to the British rulers, will be challenged and ultimately defeated by the will of the people.
Empowering Citizens and AAP Workers
Emphasizing citizen empowerment, Kejriwal urged AAP workers to reach out to households and remove the fear instilled by decades of BJP rule. “Now the time has come for Gujarat’s people to decide, and the government will work according to their wishes,” he said. He reiterated that all pending FIRs and false cases will be withdrawn once AAP forms the government in Gujarat.
A Rising Trust in AAP
Kejriwal noted that Rajkot citizens had given AAP 18% of votes in the previous elections, marking a significant trust in the party despite its relatively recent formation in 2012. With this growing faith, he emphasized that the people’s mandate will soon translate into AAP’s victory in local governance, ensuring that decisions reflect the true voice of the citizens.
