The AAP national convenor has asked the companies to respond within seven days, saying consumers deserve transparent and evidence-based information.
In separate letters addressed to leading automobile companies, including Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Hero MotoCorp, Kejriwal referred to their recent public statements claiming that vehicles compatible with E20 fuel do not experience a reduction in mileage.
The AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal requested the manufacturers to explain the technical basis of these claims and provide a detailed response that would help consumers better understand the real-world impact of E20 fuel on fuel efficiency and vehicle performance.

E20 fuel is a petrol blend containing 20 percent ethanol and has been introduced as part of the Central Government’s strategy to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels, promote cleaner energy, and increase the use of biofuels in the transportation sector.
Arvind Kejriwal said many vehicle owners have expressed concerns regarding the effect of the higher ethanol blend on mileage, engine efficiency, and long-term vehicle performance. He emphasized that automobile manufacturers should provide clear and scientifically supported information so that consumers can make informed decisions.
According to the letters, the companies are expected to submit their responses within a week. Kejriwal maintained that greater transparency from manufacturers would help address public concerns surrounding E20-compatible vehicles and the nationwide rollout of the ethanol-blended fuel.
The development comes as India continues to expand the availability of E20 fuel across the country in line with its clean energy and sustainable mobility objectives. The responses from automobile manufacturers are expected to provide further clarity on the performance of vehicles designed to operate on the new fuel blend.
