Arvind Kejriwal attacked PM Modi over Russia oil-gas policy, alleging US pressure and demanding resignation if government can’t handle international pressure.
A major political controversy erupted after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a press conference held in Delhi on Wednesday (May 13).
Arvind Kejriwal questioned the central government’s energy policy, alleging that India is avoiding cheaper oil and gas imports from Russia due to external pressure. He claimed that while the government is urging citizens to conserve fuel and reduce vehicle usage, it is simultaneously rejecting affordable energy sources.

“If you can’t handle pressure, resign”
In a direct attack, Kejriwal said that if the government is unable to withstand international pressure, it should step down. He argued that decisions affecting 1.4 billion people should not be influenced by foreign powers.
He further alleged that a ship carrying Russian oil and gas was reportedly stopped from entering India, raising concerns over energy security and supply stability.
Allegations of US influence
Arvind Kejriwal also referred to former US President Donald Trump, alleging that India’s decisions are being shaped under American pressure. He said that many countries do not blindly follow external influence and act based on national interest.
India’s energy policy under scrutiny
The AAP leader argued that India, being a major global market, has the leverage to negotiate better terms internationally. He said the country should prioritize economic and energy security rather than yielding to foreign pressure.
Kejriwal also claimed that India could influence global companies if it chooses to assert its market strength.
