NEET-UG 2026 paper leak row escalates as Arvind Kejriwal attacks government, urges Gen-Z protest. CBI begins investigation into alleged irregularities.
The controversy surrounding the NEET-UG 2026 examination has intensified after serious allegations of a paper leak and irregularities triggered nationwide concern. The issue has now taken a political turn after Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal launched a sharp attack on the central government, questioning the integrity of the examination system and calling for youth-led protests.
Kejriwal alleges repeated NEET-UG 2026 paper leak failures
Kejriwal claimed that India has witnessed more than 90 exam paper leak incidents since 2014, suggesting a deep systemic failure in the examination and recruitment framework. According to him, millions of students have been affected due to repeated disruptions in competitive examinations.
He argued that the issue is not isolated to one exam but reflects a broader governance failure that requires urgent reform and accountability.
Call for Gen-Z protests sparks debate
In a strongly worded statement, Kejriwal urged young people, especially Gen-Z students, to raise their voices against the alleged irregularities. He compared youth-led movements in other countries and suggested that Indian students should also mobilize peacefully to demand justice in education-related matters.
The appeal has triggered political debate, with supporters calling it a voice for student rights, while critics argue it could escalate tensions during an already sensitive situation.
Questions raised over states and investigation agencies
The AAP leader also pointed out that many alleged paper leak cases have been reported from states including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Gujarat. He further raised concerns about the neutrality of investigative processes, suggesting that political interference could undermine fairness.
The central investigation agency, Central Bureau of Investigation, has been assigned to probe the matter after mounting allegations of malpractice and systemic lapses.

Government response and CBI probe
Following widespread concerns over examination integrity, authorities have reportedly decided to cancel the NEET-UG 2026 examination. The decision comes amid growing pressure to ensure transparency in the recruitment and admission process.
The National Testing Agency confirmed that the examination process has been reviewed due to concerns about fairness and credibility.
Officials also clarified that candidates will not need to re-register for any potential re-examination. Existing data and examination centers will remain valid for future scheduling.
Rising pressure on education system integrity
The NEET-UG controversy has once again highlighted long-standing concerns about exam security in India’s competitive education system. With lakhs of aspirants depending on a fair testing process, the issue has become both a political and social flashpoint.
As the investigation proceeds under the CBI, students and parents are awaiting clarity on the future of the examination and the steps being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
