The work is currently underway, and clean drinking water will be available to farmers and workers within the next few days, providing much-needed respite during the peak summer heat.
Highlights of the Facilities at Malout Mandi:
Seamless Procurement: Sufficient labor and advanced weighing machinery deployed for quick processing.
Cleanliness & Shelter: Dedicated teams for sanitation and well-maintained sheds for farmers.
Historic Water Project: End of a 20-year wait with the launch of the permanent drinking water pipeline.
Hassle-free Payments: Digital tracking to ensure timely credit to farmers’ accounts.
Government’s Commitment to Agrarian Welfare
Speaking on the occasion, Baljit Kaur reiterated that the Punjab government, under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann, is fully committed to solving the grassroots problems of the farming community. She noted that strengthening the basic infrastructure of agricultural markets is a top priority. Baljit Kaur further added that the modernization of mandis is a core policy of the Aam Aadmi Party, aimed at boosting the rural economy and ensuring that the “Annadata” (food provider) faces no hardships.
Local farmers have widely welcomed the proactive steps taken by Baljit Kaur. Many expressed that the installation of the water facility and the organized procurement setup will make the mandi operations much easier, especially during the challenging harvest season.
