CM Bhagwant Mann slams Akali-Congress at the Batala rally, accusing them of treating the public like insects. He also launched ₹176Cr in development projects.
The industrial hub of Batala witnessed a wave of massive public support as Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann addressed a gargantuan gathering today. While inaugurating development projects worth ₹176.91 crore, the Chief Minister launched a scathing attack on the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Congress, accusing them of being fundamentally disconnected from the common man.
The “Sanitizer” Politics of the Elite
During his high-octane speech, Bhagwant Mann exposed the alleged arrogance of traditional political families. He stated that leaders from the Akali and Congress camps view the general public as “mere insects” (keede-makoode).
In a stinging remark that resonated with the crowd, Bhagwant Mann claimed, “These leaders are so disconnected that they fear the common man. If they happen to shake hands with a poor person by mistake, they immediately use a sanitizer as soon as they get back into their luxury cars, as if they have contracted a disease.”

Development vs. Empty Chairs
The Chief Minister highlighted the stark contrast between the AAP government and the opposition. He noted that while AAP rallies focus on schools, healthcare, and infrastructure, the opposition is struggling to even fill their venues.
“In our rallies, we talk about the progress of Punjab,” said Bhagwant Mann. “In contrast, the opposition rallies are only about ‘dinosaurs’ (outdated leaders) and empty chairs. They have no vision for the people, only a hunger for power.” He further added that the enthusiasm shown by the people of Batala today is enough to give sleepless nights to his political rivals.
A ₹176 Crore Gift for Batala
Beyond the political rhetoric, Bhagwant Mann ensured that the rally was a milestone for the city’s growth. The Chief Minister dedicated development works worth ₹176.91 crore, including:
₹95.72 crore for the Batala Municipal Corporation.
₹16.10 crore for Mandi Board rural infrastructure.
₹65.09 crore for new PWD road projects.
Bhagwant Mann emphasized that every penny of the state exchequer is now being spent on the welfare of the people, marking an end to the era of corruption.
