CM Bhagwant Mann raised E20 petrol concerns in Punjab Assembly, seeking fuel choice for consumers and lower E20 petrol prices.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann raised serious concerns over the sale and use of E20 ethanol-blended petrol during the 13th session of the Punjab Assembly.
Mann claimed that E20 petrol is being imposed on consumers without adequate studies on its impact. Citing a survey, he said 67% of vehicles reportedly experienced lower mileage, while 45% faced engine-related problems.
The Chief Minister said reduced mileage and higher vehicle maintenance costs could directly affect the income and household budgets of common people. He also claimed that the Centre has acknowledged in Parliament that E20 fuel can reduce vehicle mileage.
Mann demanded that consumers should have the right to choose between regular petrol and E20 fuel. He also called for an immediate reduction in E20 petrol prices.

The Punjab Chief Minister further alleged that the policy was linked to benefits for corporate companies and a major trade deal with the United States. These are political allegations made by Mann.
Mann said the Punjab Assembly would pass a resolution on the issue and send it to the Central Government, seeking relief for vehicle owners and greater choice for consumers.
“Inquilab Zindabad,” Mann said while highlighting the issue in the Assembly.
