Bhagwant Mann reviews Punjab’s anti-drug campaign in Ludhiana, highlighting over 70,000 arrests, education gains and 68,500+ government jobs.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held an important meeting with Village Defence Committee (VDC) volunteers in Ludhiana and discussed the state government’s ongoing campaign against drugs.
Bhagwant Man said that the anti-drug drive has completed more than 500 days and has delivered significant results with the support of the Punjab Police and local volunteers.
Over 70,000 Drug Traffickers Arrested
According to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, more than 70,000 drug traffickers have been arrested during the campaign. He credited the coordinated efforts of the police and VDC volunteers for strengthening the fight against drug trafficking across Punjab.
Mann said the government remains committed to eliminating drugs from the state and ensuring that young people have better opportunities to build their future.

From ‘Udta Punjab’ to a More Educated and Healthy Punjab
The Chief Minister Bhagwant Man highlighted what he described as a broader transformation in Punjab. He said the state is gradually moving away from the negative image associated with the phrase ‘Udta Punjab’ and towards a ‘Padhta and Tandurust Punjab’—an educated and healthier Punjab.
Mann pointed to improvements in education and employment as important indicators of this change. He cited Punjab’s first position in school education, 882 students clearing NEET, and the provision of more than 68,500 government jobs as examples of the state’s progress.

VDC Volunteers Playing a Key Role
During his interaction with the volunteers, Mann emphasised the importance of community participation in tackling drug abuse. VDC volunteers work alongside the administration and police to strengthen awareness and vigilance at the grassroots level.
The Chief Minister Bhagwant Man said that the fight against drugs cannot be limited to government agencies alone and requires collective participation from communities, families, volunteers and young people.
‘War Against Drugs Will Continue’
Bhagwant Man made it clear that the campaign will continue until drugs are completely eliminated from Punjab. He urged people to join hands with the government and contribute to building a stronger and more prosperous state.
Calling for collective action, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Man appealed to Punjabis to work together to create a ‘Rangla Punjab’, where education, employment, health and opportunities for young people remain at the centre of development.
