Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath advises IPS trainee officers to build trust, use technology effectively, and strengthen community policing for better law and order across the state.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday addressed 23 trainee officers of the Indian Police Service (IPS) from the 2023 and 2024 batches, urging them to prioritise trust-building, sensitivity and effective use of technology during their policing careers. Meeting the young officers in Lucknow, Yogi Adityanath emphasized that modern policing demands a combination of discipline, compassion and technological expertise.
During the interaction, Yogi Adityanath outlined the challenges of working in a geographically vast and socio-economically diverse state like Uttar Pradesh. He advised trainee IPS officers to use their district training period wisely to build strong foundations in communication, investigation and community engagement. According to him, an officer’s success depends on the ability to resolve real-life issues swiftly and earn the trust of citizens.

The chief minister said police stations form the backbone of the policing system, adding that trainee IPS officers must gain hands-on experience in administration, duty management, dispute resolution and investigation procedures. Yogi Adityanath reiterated that human intelligence remains one of the most powerful tools for maintaining law and order, encouraging officers to strengthen their rapport with local communities.
Highlighting the importance of respectful engagement, Yogi Adityanath cautioned the trainee IPS officers against irresponsible or casual behaviour with public representatives. He stated that elected officials represent the voice of the people, and constructive coordination with them contributes to a stronger, more stable law and order environment.
The chief minister placed strong emphasis on combating crimes against women, cybercrimes, and illegal drug networks—issues that require modern, technology-driven strategies. Yogi Adityanath urged trainee IPS officers to master digital forensics, cyber tools and emerging policing technologies to stay ahead of new-age criminal activities.
Concluding his address, Yogi Adityanath reminded the trainee IPS officers that integrity, discipline and a humane approach will be their greatest assets. Their actions, he said, will not only shape the future of law and order but also reinforce the confidence and security of the people of Uttar Pradesh.
