Chaitar Vasava condemns BJP minister Ramesh Katara’s remarks on teachers, calling it an insult to educators and the education system.
A political controversy has erupted in Gujarat after Aam Aadmi Party MLA Chaitar Vasava strongly condemned a statement made by state minister Ramesh Katara regarding teachers.
Chaitar Vasava said that the minister’s remarks reflect the mindset of the government and amount to an insult to teachers who play a vital role in building society and the nation. He added that such comments are unacceptable and disrespectful to the teaching community.
According to Chaitar Vasava, teachers are the backbone of the education system, yet they are being burdened with multiple non-teaching duties such as census work, election duties (BLO responsibilities), and other administrative tasks, which negatively impacts classroom education.

He further stated that due to such excessive workload, the quality of education is declining, even though many schools face teacher shortages and in some cases only a single teacher manages the entire institution.
The AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava criticized the minister’s alleged remarks about past teachers and pay scales, arguing that comparing past and present salaries without considering inflation is misleading. He also questioned the government’s implementation of pay commissions, asking when the 8th or 10th pay commission was actually implemented for teachers.
Chaitar Vasava emphasized that teachers have every right to demand fair pensions, salaries, arrears, and service benefits, and there is nothing wrong in their demands. He accused the government of misrepresenting facts and undermining the dignity of educators.
He concluded by stating that insulting teachers is equivalent to insulting the entire education system and warned that the people of Gujarat will respond to such attitudes in the future.
