Chhattisgarh celebrated its 25th Foundation Day in grand style as the Indian Air Force’s elite aerobatic team, Surya Kiran, performed a spectacular air show over Sendh Reservoir. Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Governor Ramen Deka, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, and Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, along with thousands of citizens, witnessed the breathtaking display of skill, discipline, and patriotism.
The Surya Kiran squadron mesmerized the audience with precision flying, daring aerobatic maneuvers, and a dramatic display of the Indian tricolor across the skies. Squadron Leader Gaurav Patel, a native of Chhattisgarh, dedicated his high-speed salute to the state, chanting “Jai Johar!” and “Chhattisgarhiya Sabse Badhiya!”, drawing cheers from the crowd.
Dignitaries including Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, and other senior officials attended the event, which highlighted the Indian Air Force’s role in inspiring national pride and motivating youth to consider careers in the armed forces.
The one-hour air show featured 9 Hawk Mk-132 jets performing complex formations such as Heart, Diamond, Loop, Dawn Light, and Combat Tejas, along with helicopter operations demonstrating Garud Commando rappelling and disaster-rescue simulations. Each maneuver showcased the pilots’ remarkable coordination, precision, and training.
Surya Kiran, Asia’s only nine-aircraft aerobatic team, has performed over 700 shows nationally and internationally. The squadron operates indigenously manufactured HAL Hawk Mk-132 jets and includes 13 pilots, three engineering officers, one commentator, and one medical officer, exemplifying teamwork and discipline in every performance.
The Silver Jubilee air show was not just a display of aerial prowess—it symbolized courage, unity, and Chhattisgarh’s pride, inspiring citizens and youth alike to embrace service, patriotism, and excellence.
