Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma reviews water resource projects, fast-tracks Ramjal Setu Link Project, and emphasizes ‘Self-Reliant Rajasthan’ to ensure uninterrupted water supply for citizens and farmers.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized that making Rajasthan self-reliant in water management is a top priority for the state government. During a high-level review meeting of the Water Resources Department held at the Chief Minister’s office on Monday, he directed officials to expedite ongoing water and irrigation projects, including the ambitious Ramjal Setu Link Project, to ensure uninterrupted water supply to residents and farmers across the state.
Focus on Timely Completion and Efficient Monitoring
CM Sharma stated that water is a fundamental necessity for the holistic development of Rajasthan. The state government is fully committed to enhancing water availability and strengthening water management systems. He instructed officials to closely monitor irrigation projects and development works, ensuring their completion as per scheduled timelines.

Accelerated Work on Ramjal Setu Link Project
Officials from the Water Resources Department informed CM Sharma that out of three ongoing projects under the Ramjal Setu Link initiative, key works at Ramgarh Barrage and Mahalpur Barrage, including the cofferdam and drainage channels, have been completed. Additionally, progress is underway for the aqueduct over the Chambal River to divert water from Navnera Barrage to Bisalpur and Isarda Dams, as well as the feeder channels from Mej to Galwa and Galwa to Isarda-Bisalpur.
CM Sharma highlighted that five additional projects under the Ramjal Setu initiative, costing approximately Rs. 14,600 crore, are set to begin soon. These include water supply works from Bisalpur to Mor Sagar (Ajmer), Isarda to Bandh Baraitha (Bharatpur), Isarda to Ramgarh (Jaipur), Khura Chainpura to Jaisamand (Alwar), and Brahmani Barrage, aiming to provide uninterrupted water to a large population in Rajasthan.
Commitment to Comprehensive Development
The Chief Minister also provided directions on other water-related projects, reinforcing the government’s commitment to robust water infrastructure development. Senior officials from the Water Resources Department and the CM’s office were present during the review, ensuring that all projects are implemented efficiently and transparently.
Through these measures, CM Bhajanlal Sharma underlines the government’s pledge to achieve a “Self-Reliant Rajasthan” in the water sector, ensuring sustainable irrigation, better water management, and reliable supply for citizens and farmers.
