In order to further promote Punjabi language in the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday announced to fill all the vacant posts of Punjabi teachers in the government schools across the state on priority basis.
Addressing the gathering during a state level function to mark teacher’s day here today, the Chief Minister said that it is the need of the hour for further encouraging the Punjabi language. He said that the state government is duty bound to promote the mother tongue of every Punjabi and no stone will be left unturned for it. Bhagwant Singh Mann exhorted the students to speak and write the Punjabi language well so that they remain acquainted with their glorious heritage.
The Chief Minister said that a large number of posts are lying vacant in the Education department due to which studies are being affected. He said that in consonance with the commitment of the state government to make Punjab a frontrunner state in education, the state government has already taken path breaking initiatives to give a boost to the education sector. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that a large number of posts including campus managers, sanitary workers, chaukidaars and others will be recruited in the coming days.
The Chief Minister said that for the first time in the history of Punjab, Mega Parent Teachers Meeting was organized in Government schools across the state. He said that in this Mega PTM 20 lakh parents took part adding that this exercise of organising the mega PTM will immensely benefit the students. Bhagwant Singh Mann envisioned that this initiative will help the students to groom well for the coming times.
Striking an emotional chord with the teachers, the Chief Minister said that the problem of every teacher will be solved for which the state government is already making all out efforts. Asserting that he is there to resolve all the issues faced by the teaching fraternity, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that being son of a teacher he knew the problems of the teachers very well adding that he is duty bound to resolve all of them. He said that the state exchequer belongs to the people and every single penny will be judiciously utilized for the well being of every strata of society.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is laying major thrust of complete overhaul of the Education system in Punjab. He said that the state government is regularly sending batches of school Principals/ teachers to eminent educational institutes within the country and abroad for updating their expertise. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the motive is to ensure that teachers are able to learn about the advanced practices prevailing across the globe in the education sector.
The Chief Minister said that schools have been equipped with the latest technology to impart quality education to the students adding that Schools of Eminence have transformed the destiny of people of state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the result is in front of everyone as 158 students from the government schools have for the first time cleared the coveted JEE exams. He said that this is just the beginning as more such results will be visible in the coming days for which his government is making strenuous efforts.
The Chief Minister said that it is heartening to see that the desired results are being produced and youth are becoming an active partner in social-economic progress of the state adding that it is on record that educational institutions in the state are witnessing a huge surge in admissions by the youth. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that due to pro-people policies of the state government, a reverse trend in migration of youth to abroad is being witnessed in the state. Congratulating the teachers on this pious occasion, he said that Teacher’s day is very significant for him as he has high regard for the teaching fraternity.
The Chief Minister said that after parents, teachers play a very important role in shaping the destiny of the students by giving them vital guidance. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that due to the prominent role played by teachers they are known as the ‘Architects of the nation’. He expressed hope that they will continue to serve the students with missionary zeal to make Punjab a frontrunner state in the country.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also felicitated 77 teachers for outstanding services.
