Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann compares Rahul Gandhi and Navjot Singh Sidhu, criticizes opposition politics, and highlights AAP’s governance achievements in Punjab elections.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on Saturday drew a parallel between Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, stating that both share a similar ambition: Rahul aims to become Prime Minister, while Sidhu seeks to be Chief Minister. Mann emphasized that the people expect leaders to deliver results before seeking high offices.
Speaking to media in Chandigarh, CM Bhagwant Mann referred to Sidhu’s political controversies and his alleged demand to be declared CM candidate before returning to active politics. Mann stated, “Both want to be elected PM and CM first, but the public wants them to perform first.”
Highlighting his own governance record, Mann contrasted his active work with Sidhu’s tenure as a minister, claiming, “I have signed over 12,500 files starting at 7:30 am every day, working diligently for the people. Sidhu could have made significant changes as Local Bodies and Power Minister, but he failed to act.”

CM Bhagwant Mann also criticized other opposition leaders, including former Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, and Punjab Congress leaders like Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Partap Singh Bajwa. He claimed the disclosure by Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu regarding the alleged Rs 500 crore CM candidature fee had stirred political calculations within the Congress.
Targeting Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Mann said the party has lost credibility, calling it “SAD (Beadbi)” and “SAD (Badmash)” due to nepotism and gangster-backed candidates. He highlighted that despite the family’s active campaigning, the people of Punjab remain unconvinced of SAD’s revival.
Mann further criticized former CM Amarinder Singh for aligning with BJP policies and alleged that opposition parties were indirectly supporting multiple candidates in local elections while blaming the AAP government for electoral irregularities. He urged voters to see through these political tactics and make informed choices.
