Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday urged people to actively participate in the fight against drugs to eradicate this menace from the state.
Speaking at the launch of the City Surveillance and Management System, CM Bhagwant Singh highlighted the state government’s extensive crackdown on drugs. He stated that the well-planned campaign aims to dismantle the drug supply chain, imprison drug peddlers, and rehabilitate addicts. While expressing gratitude for the public’s overwhelming support for the anti-drug initiative, he emphasized that success in this battle requires continued active participation from citizens.
CM Bhagwant Singh encouraged people to report drug smugglers involved in this serious crime, assuring strict action against them. He added that properties acquired through drug money are being demolished or confiscated as part of the government’s large-scale efforts. The campaign against drugs will persist until the last traces of this menace are eliminated from Punjab.
Highlighting the government’s pro-people initiatives, CM Bhagwant Singh noted that over 51,000 youths have secured government jobs, 90% of households receive zero electricity bills, and more than 2.5 crore people have benefited from free treatment at Aam Aadmi Clinics. He stated that, beyond fulfilling their promised guarantees, the government has also undertaken additional initiatives for public welfare. Mann emphasized that, as non-traditional politicians, their focus remains solely on serving the people and fulfilling their commitments.
CM Bhagwant Singh also spoke about the state’s first-of-its-kind Sadak Surakhya Force, aimed at enhancing safety and reducing fatalities on state and national highways. He highlighted that 1,597 specially trained personnel, including women, supported by 144 fully equipped vehicles, have played a crucial role in reducing accident-related casualties by 48.10% since the initiative’s launch in February last year. This innovative effort has been recognized and appreciated by other states and even the central government.
CM Bhagwant Singh reiterated that health, education, power, water, infrastructure, and law and order remain top priorities for his administration. He assured that every effort is being made to ensure Punjab’s overall development and position it as a leading state in the country.
Expressing pride in the newly launched scheme, he announced plans to implement it across other cities to maximize public benefits. CM Bhagwant Singh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring safety, security, and public welfare.
Lastly, CM Bhagwant Singh urged citizens to be responsible by following road safety rules, stressing that adherence to traffic regulations is crucial for saving lives. He called on people to pledge their commitment to traffic discipline and assured them that the government is leaving no stone unturned in its mission to facilitate and protect the public.
