Emphasizing the success of the “Sehatmand Punjab” initiative, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann affirmed that the state government is effectively delivering on its promise to provide quality healthcare services, ensuring that no resident is deprived of medical treatment.
Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Sri Sukhmani Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, the Chief Minister highlighted that healthcare is the foundation of a thriving society, and the government is committed to strengthening it. He noted that a strong medical education system not only produces skilled doctors but also fortifies healthcare infrastructure to meet public needs. The state is establishing medical colleges across districts, enabling students to pursue medical education within Punjab.
Discussing healthcare advancements, Mann pointed out that 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics have been set up across Punjab, revolutionizing the state’s healthcare landscape.
Regarding the new medical college in Dera Bassi, he noted that it would be the second medical institution in Mohali district, following Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences. He emphasized that laying the foundation stone symbolizes more than just a building project—it marks another milestone toward achieving a ‘Sehatmand Punjab.’ The institution will enhance healthcare services for local residents while increasing MBBS seats for aspiring medical students.
During the event, the Chief Minister also extended his best wishes to participants of LAMHA-2025, a youth festival organized by Sri Sukhmani Institute. He stressed the importance of such events in shaping young individuals’ personalities, sharing that his own participation in youth festivals contributed to his success as an artist and politician. He encouraged students to take full advantage of these platforms for personal development.
Recalling his college days, Mann spoke about his active involvement in youth festivals, where he won multiple trophies. He stated, “Winning has always been my passion, and I have always maintained a positive mindset to achieve success.” Advising students to stay focused and avoid negative influences, he emphasized that dedication and perseverance are key to achieving their goals.
Drawing an analogy to airport runways facilitating smooth takeoffs for planes, Mann likened the government’s efforts to creating opportunities for youth to achieve their dreams. He reiterated that every possible measure is being taken to empower young minds and shape their futures.
Encouraging students to build a unique identity in society while remaining humble, he stressed the importance of self-confidence paired with humility. Concluding his speech, he highlighted that a positive mindset and determination are essential for success in any field and should be embraced in the right spirit.
