CM Nayab : In a major push to position Haryana as a global tourism hub, the ‘Nayab Sarkar’ is preparing to roll out a series of visionary projects aimed at boosting the state’s economy, generating employment, and placing Haryana prominently on the international tourism map. Among the key proposals is the development of a world-class Disneyland-style theme park in the Delhi-NCR region, alongside plans to elevate the scale of the International Gita Mahotsav.
To further enhance Haryana’s image as a center for pilgrimage tourism, the government has proposed holding three major fairs annually at Surajkund and expanding the International Gita Mahotsav. The state has also sought financial support from the Central Government to realize these goals.
On Wednesday, CM Nayab Singh Saini met Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in New Delhi to present these ambitious plans. The discussion focused on boosting Haryana’s tourism sector and preserving its rich cultural legacy, with the goal of making the state a globally recognized travel destination.
Highlighting the Disneyland project, CM Nayab said it would be a transformative development for the Delhi-NCR region. He noted that the park would provide economic, social, and cultural benefits for both the state and the nation. The project aims to tap into Haryana’s strong connectivity and market potential to create a premier amusement destination. It is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, enhance infrastructure, and bring about positive change in surrounding areas.
CM Nayab pointed out that Gurugram, already home to many Fortune 500 companies and a key contributor to Haryana’s economy, is an ideal location for such a mega project. With the upcoming Global City project already underway, Gurugram’s suitability is further strengthened. He revealed that around 500 acres near Pachgaon Chowk in Manesar have been identified for the theme park. This location benefits from excellent connectivity via the KMP Expressway and the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor.
He added that the Disneyland-style park would significantly boost Haryana’s economic development and, if launched, could attract international tourists and increase revenue for both the state and the country.
Plans for Three Major Annual Fairs at Surajkund
CM Nayab also shared plans to scale up tourism by organizing three annual fairs at Surajkund in Faridabad, which already hosts the renowned International Surajkund Mela. This fair, which celebrates Indian culture, craftsmanship, music, and cuisine, draws artisans and performers from across India and abroad. Each year, it features a new Indian state as the theme to highlight its folk art and traditions.
In view of its popularity, the state now plans to organize a Diwali Mela and a Book Fair at Surajkund as well, offering a larger stage for local and global artisans and performers to showcase their talent.
Appeal for Central Assistance for International Gita Mahotsav
CM Nayab Saini reiterated that the International Gita Mahotsav, held annually by the Haryana Government, serves to spread Lord Krishna’s message of ‘karma’ to the world. The festival includes a crafts fair and cultural performances, attracting international artists and promoting cultural exchange.
He stressed that the Gita Mahotsav presents a powerful opportunity to establish Haryana as a leading destination for spiritual tourism. To expand the scale and impact of this festival, he urged the Union Ministry of Tourism to provide financial assistance. With such support, Haryana could emerge as a key global destination for pilgrimage and spiritual exploration.
