Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini announced that the Cabinet has decided to offer wrestler Vinesh Phogat the option to receive benefits equivalent to those of a silver medalist under the state’s sports policy. He stated that the policy provides three types of benefits: a cash prize of ₹4 crore, a Group ‘A’ OSP job, and an HSVP plot allocation.
Addressing a press conference after chairing the State Cabinet meeting, CM Nayab mentioned that Vinesh Phogat had raised this issue in the Vidhan Sabha. In response, the Cabinet treated her case as a special exception and included her under the scheme. Since she is now an MLA, the government will seek her preference on which benefits she wishes to avail. He also noted that Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the Paris Olympics due to a procedural decision and reiterated his earlier commitment to ensuring her honor remains intact.
In response to another query, CM Nayab shared that a group of young farmers from Punjab, including 15-20 Sarpanches, met him and invited him to several programs. He stated that the youth and farmers of Punjab have shown trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies, with many feeling disillusioned by Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and shifting their support to the BJP. He emphasized that farmers consider Narendra Modi a role model and that his leadership over the past decade has significantly elevated India’s global standing. While acknowledging the contributions of previous Prime Ministers, he asserted that Narendra Modi’s vision has set India on an unparalleled path toward self-reliance.
Regarding wheat procurement, CM Nayab assured that all necessary preparations have been made following a recent meeting with officials. He stated that an estimated 75 lakh metric tonnes of wheat are expected to arrive, and instructions have been given to ensure smooth operations in mandis, including crop lifting, availability of gunny bags, and other necessary arrangements. He also highlighted that with modern machinery, crop arrivals at mandis are swift, and officials have been directed to facilitate efficient procurement.
Cooperation Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma, MLA Satpal Jamba, Director General of the Information, Public Relations, and Languages Department K. Makarand Pandurang, and Media Secretary Praveen Atreya were also present on the occasion.
