During the Winter Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, CM Nayab Singh Saini emphasized the sanctity of the Election Commission (EC), calling it a constitutional and sacrosanct institution. He stated that questioning its credibility is akin to committing a sin, highlighting the importance of upholding the integrity of India’s electoral framework.
The discussion centered on a resolution moved by MLA Ramkumar Kashyap concerning ongoing electoral reforms and the preparation of voter lists. The Chief Minister expressed concern over repeated attempts by the opposition to cast doubts on the Election Commission. “India is the world’s largest democracy, and the Election Commission is a key constitutional body. Attempts to malign its credibility are not only unfounded but also disrespectful to the democratic process,” Saini said.
He noted that the opposition staged a walkout during the debate, marking the third such instance, instead of engaging in a detailed discussion. As Leader of the House, the Chief Minister urged the Speaker to call back the opposition members to ensure a constructive debate that would help citizens clearly understand the facts.
CM Nayab Singh Saini stressed that meaningful deliberation on electoral reforms is essential for transparency and public trust in the democratic process. He reiterated that the government is committed to strengthening democratic institutions while ensuring that misinformation and baseless allegations do not undermine the electoral system.
