Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini emphasized that the values and teachings of great personalities continue to illuminate the path of righteousness. He noted that by embracing their ideals in daily life, society can be shaped on the foundation of integrity and strong character. A morally driven society, he asserted, is essential to realizing the dream of a developed and self-reliant India. Such a vision can only be fulfilled when citizens draw inspiration from the lives and messages of visionary leaders.
CM Nayab Singh Saini made these remarks while addressing the 300th birth anniversary celebration of Acharya Shri Bhikshu Swami Ji. He offered his respects to the revered saints on stage, including Munishri Vinay Kumar Alok Ji, Munishri Sudhakar Ji, Munishri Abhay Kumar Alok Ji, Munishri Naresh Ji, and Swami Sampurnanand Brahmachari Ji Maharaj. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be among the Terapanthi community on this auspicious occasion.
He remarked that India’s rich cultural heritage is preserved largely due to the spiritual guidance of saints. Applauding the disciplined and renunciative lives of Jain monks, the CM said they serve as role models of sacrifice and self-restraint in an era dominated by materialism. He added that the principles set by saints and sages continue to provide humanity with moral direction.
Acharya Bhikshu Ji: A Visionary and Reformist Thinker
CM Nayab Singh Saini described Acharya Shri Bhikshu Swami Ji not just as a saint but as a fearless reformer who questioned religious distortions and infused spirituality with reason and clarity. Born in Vikram Samvat 1783 in Kantalia village, Acharya Ji—originally known as ‘Bhikkhan’—dedicated his life to truth, austerity, and deep spiritual inquiry. In Vikram Samvat 1817, he founded the Terapanth sect, which was not just a new spiritual order but a mission to reclaim the essence of religion. The guiding motto of “one Acharya, one discipline, one ideology” defined the sect’s principles of unity, order, and unwavering faith.
Teachings More Relevant Than Ever
The Chief Minister highlighted the continued relevance of Acharya Bhikshu Ji’s teachings in today’s society. CM Nayab Singh Saini emphasized that Ahimsa (non-violence) is not limited to refraining from physical harm but also demands purity in thought, word, and deed. In today’s polarized and hostile environment, he said, this principle is crucial for promoting societal harmony. Speaking on Anekantavada (pluralism), he called it the essence of democracy, as it encourages openness to multiple viewpoints. Similarly, he said Aparigraha (non-possessiveness) stands as a powerful counter to modern consumerism, greed, and corruption.
Call to Youth: Embrace Values and Self-Discipline
CM Nayab Singh Saini stressed that Acharya Bhikshu Ji believed individual transformation leads to societal and national progress. He called upon the youth to learn from Acharya Ji’s fearless and selfless life, marked by truth, discipline, and service. He encouraged them to study his teachings and incorporate his ideals into their lives. The Chief Minister further stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is moving steadily toward becoming a developed nation. However, this journey must be anchored in ethics, character, and discipline.
On the occasion, Munishri Vinay Kumar Alok Ji and Munishri Sudhakar Ji spoke about Acharya Bhikshu Ji’s life and the core tenets of the Terapanth order. They emphasized that while it’s easy to speak about the teachings of great personalities, practicing them in daily life is the real challenge. They highlighted the distinct identity of the Terapanth tradition—centered on the principle of “one Guru, one discipline”—and praised the unwavering devotion of its followers.
