Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini announced that Buddha Jayanti will be celebrated on a grand scale across the state. He made this statement while meeting with a delegation from the Shakya community at his residence, Sant Kabir Kutir. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also declared a grant of ₹21 lakh for the construction of a Dharamshala for the Shakya community in Kaithal.
During the interaction, members of the Shakya community presented several demands related to their welfare. CM Nayab Singh Saini responded positively, assuring that the government would take timely action on these requests. He emphasized that the state government is fully dedicated to supporting social welfare initiatives. The event was attended by various senior members and prominent figures from the Shakya community.
Welcoming the delegation, CM Nayab Singh Saini praised the rich legacy of the Shakya community, calling it a source of inspiration for not just India but the entire world. He recalled that Lord Gautam Buddha, a symbol of peace, compassion, and non-violence, was born into the Shakya community, whose teachings continue to guide the world toward unity and kindness.
Commending the contributions of the community, he said the Shakya Samaj has upheld its values of diligence and integrity through their work in agriculture, horticulture, vegetable cultivation, and skilled trades—playing a significant role in Haryana’s growth.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As part of welfare measures for backward classes, the income cap for the creamy layer has been increased from ₹6 lakh to ₹8 lakh. Furthermore, the government is implementing schemes such as reservations in Panchayats and urban bodies, quotas in education and jobs, low-interest education loans, and financial assistance for daughters’ marriages.
CM Nayab Singh Saini emphasized that the Shakya community’s unity and organizational strength are its greatest assets. He urged the community to educate their children in line with Buddha’s teachings, foster peace and harmony, and actively contribute to the state’s overall development.
Notable attendees at the event included OSD to CM Bharat Bhushan Bharti, Balwan Singh Shakya, Gian Chand Shakya, Man Singh, Raj Dulari, Krishan, and other key representatives of the Shakya Samaj.
