CM Nitish Kumar today inaugurated the newly constructed Multi-Modal Parking Building (Multi-Modal Hub) near GPO, Patna and the Subway to Patna Junction. He launched these projects by unveiling the plaque and cutting the ribbon. The Chief Minister remotely launched the operation of buses and passenger vehicles from the multi-modal hub. He then inspected the sub-way where he took stock of facilities like travelators and escalators and discussed with officials about passenger amenities and connectivity.
Talking to reporters, the Chief Minister said that with the introduction of these facilities, the congestion in Patna Junction and surrounding areas will be reduced and the public transport system will be strengthened. This underground pedestrian route has been built to connect this multi-modal hub near GPO Golambar with Patna Junction. The aim of the project is to improve the traffic system in the Patna Junction area, which will make it easier for pedestrians to reach the station. CM Nitish said that he had reviewed this construction work several times in the past and had given instructions to expedite the quality work.
The 440-metre-long subway has been constructed by the Urban Development and Housing Department at a cost of Rs 84.83 crore, starting from Patna Junction to GPO Golambar. At the same time, a multi-modal hub has been constructed at a cost of Rs 66.81 crore, which has adequate parking arrangements for buses, autos, taxis and private vehicles. People from different parts of the city can easily reach Patna Junction by parking their vehicles here. It also has two elevators, two escalators and air-conditioning throughout the route. An additional entry and exit gate has also been constructed near the Buddha Smriti Park. It is planned to be connected to Patna Metro Station in the future.
Through this project, the movement of pedestrians to Patna Junction has been made very simple and convenient.
