CM Nitish Kumar held a high level review meeting on prohibition and law and order at ‘Sankalp’, 1 Anne Marg today. During the meeting, the Director General of Police and officers of the Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department briefed the Chief Minister about the law and order situation and the efforts being made to effectively enforce prohibition.
During the review,CM Nitish Kumar directed the officers to be fully alert and active for crime control. There should be no negligence in police patrolling and keeping in mind the upcoming festivals, strict vigil should be kept on anti-social elements.
The Chief Minister said that appropriate steps should be taken for effective implementation of prohibition. He said that earlier people used to waste their earnings due to alcoholism, but now the same money is being invested in other useful works, which is improving the economic condition of the families. As a result, an atmosphere of peace and harmony has been created in the society, and both men and women have benefited.
CM Nitish Kumar directed the officials to encourage the production and sale of Neera as it is beneficial and tasty for health. New sources of income should be developed for the people associated with Neera by promoting its collection, marketing and sale of its products.
CM Nitish Kumar also said that continuous awareness campaigns should be carried out for effective implementation of prohibition. People should be made aware of the harms and diseases caused by alcohol consumption. Along with this, necessary steps should be taken to provide alternative employment to the people associated with the toddy business.
