CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday handed over appointment letters to 126 Gram Panchayat Development Officers appointed under the Panchayati Raj Department at the Mukhya Sevak Sadan at the Chief Minister’s residence. In the last three and a half years, more than 20 thousand youth have got employment in government services in the state. He wished all the students and said that this opportunity has brought a new chapter in their lives. The Chief Minister hoped that the newly appointed officers would ensure rural development by becoming an integral part of the Gram Panchayat, the basic unit of democracy, as progress of villages is essential for the overall development of the state.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami also informed that the country’s most stringent anti-copying law has been implemented in Uttarakhand, which has provisions for strict penalties and fines. He said that when a hardworking and honest person achieves success through his perseverance, he acts responsibly by understanding the problems of the people well. The state government is giving priority to the development of villages along with cities to make Uttarakhand a leading state in the country. At the same time, he also referred to the bill passed in the assembly to enforce strict land laws.
Stressing on the unity of the state, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami made it clear that those playing with the identity of Uttarakhand would not be spared. He appealed to all the people of Uttarakhand not to be misled and contribute to the development of the state by staying united. He warned that in future, provocative statements will be taken seriously and strict action will be taken against those who play with the unity of the state.
Panchayati Raj Minister Satpal Maharaj congratulated the newly appointed Gram Panchayat Development Officers and said that many schemes are being run under the double engine government in the state. Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code. Panchayat buildings and additional cells are being constructed by the Panchayati Raj Department, as well as services like family register, birth-death certificate, and building construction no-objection certificate are being provided online. He informed that the process of computerization of Panchayats is in progress and computers will be installed in all Panchayats in the next two years.
