CM Nitish Kumar held a review meeting of the schemes of the Road Construction Department at ‘Sankalp’ on 1 Aney Marg and gave necessary instructions to the officials. During the meeting, the Additional Chief Secretary of Road Construction Department apprised the Chief Minister of the progress of various projects of the department.
A presentation on the extension of JP Ganga Path from Digha to Sherpur via Bihta (up to Koilwar bridge) and widening of State High way SH-106 (Didarganj-Fatuha-Bakhtiyarpur-Athamalgola) into four lane was also made. The length of the stretch from Digha to Koilwar will be 35.65 km, while the four-lane stretch of SH-106 will be 41.27 km long. Along with this, information was also given about the long-distance expressway projects proposed by the central government in Bihar.
The Chief Minister informed that the work of JP Ganga Path from Digha to Didarganj has been completed and the public is using it. He further talked about extending this route from Buxar and Didarganj to Karjan and Mokama via Koilwar. He said that this special project is being developed on the banks of river Ganga and it will provide better connectivity between North and South Bihar by connecting various bridges over the river.
The Chief Minister also said that during his Pragati Yatra, roads and bridges have been sanctioned for various districts, the construction of which should be completed soon. The work of widening the rural roads is also going on. At the same time, the central government is also constructing many major roads and bridges which will make transportation easier. He directed that if there is a need for more roads or bridges to improve the connectivity of any area in the state, then the department should review it and prepare a proposal, the state government will get it approved and constructed from its own resources.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Road Construction Department Mihir Kumar Singh, Secretaries to the Chief Minister Anupam Kumar and Kumar Ravi, as well as senior officials of the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation and Road Development Corporation.
