CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said 32 lakh pilgrims visited Char Dham Yatra and stressed strict SOPs, safety measures, and better crowd management for smooth pilgrimage.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that around 32 lakh pilgrims have already visited the ongoing Char Dham Yatra, while nearly 40 lakh devotees are expected to participate in the Adi Kailash Yatra. He described the large turnout as a remarkable confluence of faith and devotion in the state.
Safety of pilgrims is top priority
The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized that ensuring the safety of pilgrims remains the top priority of the government. He directed officials to further strengthen Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to make the pilgrimage safer and more organized.
He also instructed strict enforcement of traffic regulations, including restrictions on movement of vehicles during night hours from 10 PM to 4 AM on pilgrimage routes.

Focus on crowd management and facilities
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami highlighted the need for better crowd control through holding areas and checkpoints wherever pilgrim traffic exceeds capacity. He stressed phased movement of devotees to avoid congestion at shrines.
He also directed authorities to ensure proper arrangements for parking, food, drinking water, and sanitation facilities at halt points so that pilgrims do not face inconvenience.
Second phase of Yatra more challenging
The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami noted that the pilgrimage is now entering a more challenging phase due to the monsoon season and adverse weather conditions. He called for a more cautious, controlled, and scientific approach to managing the Yatra.
Continuous monitoring and emergency preparedness
He instructed officials to review pilgrim feedback and complaints daily and take immediate corrective action wherever required. He also ordered advance deployment of JCB machines, ambulances, satellite phones, and rescue equipment at sensitive locations.
The Garhwal Commissioner and IG Garhwal have been directed to regularly monitor arrangements, while district officials will ensure smooth execution on the ground.
