Political tensions have intensified ahead of Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s two-day visit to Uttarakhand, as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched a sharp attack on the Congress leader.
CM Dhami accused Rahul Gandhi of making statements that hurt the sentiments of soldiers and said that his visit was aimed at “reopening the wounds of the armed forces.”
Strong remarks by CM Dhami
Addressing the media, Chief Minister Dhami said that Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly made comments that have allegedly disrespected the Indian Army and its personnel. He questioned how the Congress leader could interact with ex-servicemen in Uttarakhand after such remarks.
Uttarakhand, being a state with a large number of military families, remains highly sensitive to issues related to the armed forces.

Allegations over past statements on armed forces
CM Dhami alleged that Rahul Gandhi has, on multiple occasions, questioned military operations such as surgical strikes and made remarks that undermine the bravery and integrity of soldiers.
He further referred to past controversies involving comments on senior military leadership, stating that such statements have deeply hurt the sentiments of soldiers, veterans, and their families.
Focus on welfare schemes for ex-servicemen
The Chief Minister highlighted that both the central and state governments have implemented several welfare schemes for ex-servicemen and their families. He also mentioned the implementation of the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme, claiming it was made possible under the current central government.
“Disturbing peace atmosphere” allegation
CM Dhami also alleged that attempts are being made to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of Uttarakhand. He claimed that certain political activities and narratives are aimed at promoting division and unrest in the state.
However, he added that the public is aware of such political intentions and understands them well.
