CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday felicitated 75 meritorious students of High School and Intermediate of Uttarakhand Board of Secondary Education at the meritorious student felicitation ceremony at Mukhya Sevak Sadan in the Chief Minister’s residence. Speaking at a function organised by Amar Ujala newspaper, the Chief Minister said that through this felicitation ceremony, Amar Ujala has been encouraging the talented students of our state by honouring them every year.
CM Pushkar Singh said that all the meritorious students being awarded are the foundation of the bright future of the state. Along with their parents, teachers and school, these students have also enhanced the pride of Uttarakhand. The state government is making continuous efforts to improve the education system in the state. The government is laying emphasis on quality education. N.S .E.R.T textbooks have been made mandatory in all government schools. Textbooks are being provided free of cost to all students of classes 1 to 12 in government and aided schools. 226 schools in the state are being developed as PM Shree Vidyalayas. Virtual classes are being conducted in 500 schools and smart classrooms are also being set up in hybrid mode in 840 new schools.
CM Pushkar Singh said that meritorious students of classes 6 to 12 of government and non-government schools of Uttarakhand are being given scholarships every month through the Mukhyamantri Medhavi Chhatra Protsahan Scholarship Scheme. For the purpose of personality development of children, it has been started to send meritorious students of class 10th and 12th of each development block to visit India. Vocational education in 8 trades has been started in secondary schools, due to which more than 42 thousand students are getting skill-based education.
Books in Garhwali, Kumaoni, Jaunsari languages have been prepared by the government to preserve the local language and culture. Through the book ‘Hamari Virasat’, the students of classes 6 to 8 are also being introduced to the culture, folk tradition and great personalities of India. ‘Kaushalam Programme ‘has also been launched to develop skills, entrepreneurship and Indian knowledge tradition among children.
