CM Pushkar Singh Dhami virtually inaugurated the three-day Katyur Mahotsav. Bageshwar. The three-day Katyur Mahotsav has begun at Baijnath Bhakunkhola ground. Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the festival virtually on Sunday.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while addressing the Katyur Mahotsav virtually, announced that the urban drinking water scheme will be sanctioned in Garud. The recognition of science class will be given in Inter College Gagrigol. Ghat, meeting room construction and beautification will be done in Chakravarteshwar temple. The tin shed will be constructed at K. D. Pandey Ramlila Maidan. An amount of Rs. 2 lakh will be provided for organising the festival. In a virtual address, the Chief Minister said that this historic land of Baijnath has been the capital of the Katyur dynasty in the 7th century. The Katyuri rulers were known for their rich art, glorious culture, religious faith and just system of governance. He built the ancient Baijnath temple here, which is the main center of faith in Uttarakhand as well as in the whole of India. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this shrine is an excellent example of the architecture of the Katyuri reign.
CM Pushkar Singh said that through the Katyur Mahotsav, a commendable effort is being made to give wider recognition to the rich cultural heritage of this historical region. Such events play an important role in preserving our rich traditions and passing them on to the future generations. Our culture is our identity. We should be proud of the folk art, culture, clothing and food of Uttarakhand. He said that under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the State Government is working with determination for the overall development of Uttarakhand as well as for the revival of religious places and preserving the cultural identity.
CM Pushkar Singh said that the state government is also working for the revival and beautification of the ancient temples of Kumaon located in Manas Khand like Kedarkhand. In this sequence, along with Baijnath Dham, Maa Kot Bhramari Temple is also being developed. Many schemes are being implemented to stop migration from the hilly areas and to boost the local economy and tourism. Local livelihood opportunities have been promoted through the One District, Two Product scheme, while the House of Himalaya brand has given global recognition to our products. Apart from this, the local economy of the state is being strengthened by schemes like State Millet Mission, Farm Machinery Bank, Apple Mission, New Tourism Policy, New Film Policy, Home Stay and Wed in Uttarakhand. These schemes are creating new employment opportunities and new possibilities in the tourism and agriculture sectors.
CM Pushkar Singh said that the government has recently started helicopter service to Bageshwar, which will give a new impetus to the tourism and economy of the region. The dream of connecting Bageshwar by rail was incomplete for many generations, but with the efforts of our double engine government, the survey of this project has been completed and the construction of the rail line will start soon. Through this, new possibilities of development will be realized in Champawat, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar districts. Speaking at the festival, Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta said that such events are very necessary to take our historical heritage to the future generation. He said that it is our responsibility to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Katyur region. He made a special mention of the contribution of Baijnath Temple and Rani Jia Rani and said that with the passage of time, diverse cultures have coalesced in the region, which has enriched it.
Referring to the government’s plan to connect ‘Kedar Khand to Manas Khand, “the Minister said that there is a plan to develop a tourist circuit from Gwaldam Baijnath Bageshwar Munsiyari Dharchula etc. to Purnagiri via Kailash, which will increase the number of pilgrims and tourists. With the support of Prime Minister Modi, the road network is being strengthened across the country and road construction is also going on at a rapid pace in the Himalayan regions, which will give a boost to tourism and connectivity. Shri Shiv Singh Bisht, who was also present on the occasion, described Katyur valley as a historical place and said that this festival is an effective medium to highlight the culture and traditions of the region. He described it as a symbol of unity and enthusiasm of the local people. MLA Parvati Das said that such festivals are necessary for the preservation and promotion of culture. Other speakers Krikkapokot MLA Suresh Gadhia, District Panchayat Administrator Basanti Dev and former MLA Lalit Phasrwanakr appreciated such events for furthering the culture.
