CM Rekha Gupta lays foundation for ₹1,075 crore Yamunapar development projects, including roads, bridges, and flood control to boost infrastructure.
In a significant move for the region’s holistic development, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated projects worth ₹1,075 crore aimed at transforming Yamunapar’s infrastructure and public amenities. The event took place at Jhilmil Ramleela Ground, where CM Gupta emphasized the government’s commitment to equitable development across Yamunapar.
Key Projects and Infrastructure Boost
The ambitious development plans include road construction and five new foot over bridges under the Public Works Department (PWD), as well as the reconstruction of drains, culverts, and bridges under the Irrigation and Flood Control Department. These projects are expected to improve traffic management and resolve persistent waterlogging issues in the area, providing lasting relief to residents.
CM Rekha Gupta remarked, “There was a time when Yamunapar was overlooked due to biased policies of previous governments. Our focus is to ensure uniform growth, whether across or along the Yamuna. Development here will now match any other part of Delhi.”
Inauguration Ceremony and Government Officials
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Harsh Malhotra, Delhi Cabinet Minister Pravesh Verma, and Yamunapar Development Board Chairman Arvinder Singh Lovely. CM Gupta officially laid the foundation for projects spanning PWD and Irrigation & Flood Control Departments, highlighting the need for strong infrastructure for a balanced and developed Delhi.

Addressing Past Neglect
Union Minister Harsh Malhotra criticized previous administrations, stating, “For years, the area suffered from broken roads, open drains, and lack of good schools and hospitals. The current Delhi government is working tirelessly every day to transform the city’s infrastructure.”
Delhi Cabinet Minister Pravesh Verma added, “Our government prioritizes results over politics. No area of Delhi will remain deprived of development. Today’s foundation laying is a commitment toward building a developed Delhi.”
Road and Bridge Expansion
Under the PWD, 236 roads will be upgraded and strengthened at an estimated cost of ₹782 crore. In addition, five foot over bridges will be constructed with a budget of ₹21 crore to facilitate safer pedestrian movement. The Irrigation and Flood Control Department will oversee the reconstruction of 10 drains and the construction of 18 roads and bridges, costing around ₹272 crore.
Local MLAs including Sanjay Goyal, Abhay Verma, Om Prakash Sharma, Anil Goyal, Ravindra Singh Negi, Ravi Kant Ujjainwal, and Bharat Gaur expressed gratitude to CM Rekha Gupta for initiating these long-awaited development projects.
