Nava Raipur A grand and attractive art gallery will be set up in front of Purkhoti Muktangan in Atal Nagar. For this, 10 acres of land will be given free of cost by the Chhattisgarh government. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by CM Vishnudev Sai at Mahanadi Mantralaya Bhawan in Nava Raipur on June 4. It aims to promote art, culture and craft in Chhattisgarh. The Ministry of Culture, on the demand of the Government of India, has approved the allotment of about 10 acres of land free of cost at Village Uparwara, Sector-24, Nava Raipur for Kalagram.
CM Vishnudev Sai said that the establishment of Kalagram is a historic step towards giving recognition to the traditional art, culture and craft of Chhattisgarh at the national and international level. It will not just be a structure, but a platform of dreams of our artists, which will support them in showcasing their talent and getting livelihood opportunities. Our government wants to connect folk art and handicrafts with the spirit of self-reliant India and give them a global platform.
This Kalagram will be a dedicated centre for craftsmen, folk artists and traditional artisans, which will promote cultural exchange and showcase the art, culture and rich heritage of Chhattisgarh while acting as a hub of creative economy. All expenses, including construction, operation and conservation works, will be borne by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
It is worth mentioning that this land identified by Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority is situated in front of Purkhoti Muktangan, which is connected to the main road from two sides and is considered suitable for Kalagram. Since the Nava Raipur Development Authority is a self-financing institution, the State Government will pay the amount of reimbursement of premium and ground rent of the said land to the Authority. This decision will not only strengthen the cultural richness of Chhattisgarh but will also provide a permanent platform for local artisans and craftsmen to showcase their art at the national level.
