CM Yogi Adityanath: Inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth Rs 351 crore.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath today unveiled a statue of former Union Minister Chaudhary Ajit Singh made of ashtadhatu in Chhaprauli during his visit to Baghpat district. On this occasion, he also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth Rs 351 crore.
In his address,CM Yogi Adityanath said that this historic day marks a rare coincidence of Maghi Purnima, Sant Ravidas Jayanti and Chaudhary Ajit Singh’s birth anniversary. He recalled Chaudhary Ajit Singh’s dedication to farmers and said that his entire life was dedicated to the betterment of India’s Annadata farmers. His first statue being installed in Chhaprauli is a symbol of the fact that he always stood with the farmers. He was an able leader who gave a new direction to the country while being in various ministries. Baghpat lived in their hearts, and today’s development works are an important step towards realising the vision of Chaudhary Charan Singh and Chaudhary Ajit Singh.
Highlighting the life of Chaudhary Ajit Singh, CM Yogi Adityanath informed that he received his early education in western Uttar Pradesh and did his BTech from IIT Kharagpur after completing his further studies from Lucknow. He then obtained an MS degree from abroad and worked as a computer scientist at IBM for two decades. But leaving behind prestige and economic prosperity, he made a significant contribution to India, especially to the farmers of western Uttar Pradesh, by entering politics in the year 1986.
Underlining the historical importance of Baghpat, CM Yogi Adityanath said that Baghpat was among the five villages that Lord Krishna had demanded for the Pandavas during the Mahabharata period. The youth here are playing an important role in the development of the state and the country with their energy and talent. Work is underway on the plan to establish an industrial corridor in this area connected with the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, which will give a new dimension to industrial development.
Appreciating the farmers of Baghpat, he said that by adopting modern agricultural techniques, they are becoming a model for the entire country. The State Government has made cane price payment of Rs. 2.72 lakh crore since 2017, with 99.51% payment completed in 2023-24. Compared to the last 22 years, the state government has paid about Rs 60,000 crore more to sugarcane farmers in just 8 years. Apart from this, plans have also been made to upgrade the sugar mill of Baghpat, which will give more benefits to the farmers.
Appreciating the law and order of Uttar Pradesh, CM Yogi Adityanath said that the state has now become a model for the country, where every citizen, businessman and daughter is feeling safe. The state will soon get 60,200 new police personnel, whose fair examination and selection process has been completed. The government has made 20% posts in police recruitment compulsorily reserved for daughters.
He said that the ongoing Mahakumbh Snan in Prayagraj is the world’s largest religious event, which will continue till February 26. Crores of devotees have bathed in the holy Sangam on Maghi Purnima, and the people of Uttar Pradesh can invite the whole world to take a bath of faith in Triveni.
Stressing on the priority of development works in the state, the Chief Minister informed that 160 projects worth Rs 135 crore have been dedicated and foundation stone of 121 projects worth Rs 215.85 crore has been laid in Baghpat. These projects are related to connectivity, road construction, setting up of educational institutions and industrial development. In the coming years, Baghpat will set new records of development.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) Jayant Chaudhary also recalled the contribution of Chaudhary Ajit Singh. He said that this first construction has been done in his memory. Chaudhary Ajit Singh was a visionary leader who served as a computer scientist after doing MS abroad, but dedicated his life to the service of the country and farmers, carrying forward the legacy of his father Chaudhary Charan Singh. He was a unique politician combining technical knowledge and a vision for the upliftment of Indian rural society.
Lauding the important steps taken by the Uttar Pradesh government, Shri Jayant Chaudhary said that in the year 2020-21, the data centre policy was implemented in the state, under which work started to develop Uttar Pradesh as a technology hub with an investment of Rs 30,000 crore. In the year 2024, the Government of Uttar Pradesh initiated the Semiconductor Policy and approved semiconductor production plants with an investment of Rs 30,700 crore. In addition, the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) policy was formulated, which led to Uttar Pradesh’s remarkable success in the aerospace and aviation sector.
Shri Jayant Chaudhary said that CM Yogi Adityanath took a pledge for comprehensive development of the state and carried out important reforms to attract investment. Today Uttar Pradesh is bringing investment through its participation in Asia’s premier Aero India event. The government has made historic reforms in the education sector, due to which the youth are getting new and better opportunities. Uttar Pradesh is now moving towards becoming not just a good state, but a good state.
CM Yogi Adityanath distributed certificates, symbolic cheques of loans, tractors and keys of houses to the beneficiaries of various development schemes during the programme. The Minister for Science & Technology, Shri Anil Kumar, the Minister of State for Industrial Development, Shri Jaswant Singh Saini, the Minister of State for Forests, Environment, Zoos and Climate Change, Shri K. P. Malik and other public representatives and senior officers of the administration were present on the occasion.
The major projects include 138 schemes of Public Works Department, Government Girls Inter College (Singhawali Ahir and Bilochpura), New Bus Station at Baghpat, ITI Prahladpur, Flood Protection Works at Village Jagaus on the bank of river Yamuna, Construction of Multipurpose Hall at Village Meetli under Khelo India Programme, Women Barracks at Police Line Baghpat, Construction of Hostels / Barracks at Police Station Binauli and Police Station Ramala.
The major projects for which foundation stones have been laid include two-lane widening of Baraut-Aminagar Sarai road, construction of Chhaprauli to Bijwada Rajwaha Makhar canal track, two-lane widening and strengthening of Baghpat-Muradnagar road, new bridge, approach road and protective works on Hindon river, construction of 50 bedded critical care hospital block at District Hospital Baghpat, Government AYUSH / Unani Hospital, Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Composite School, Ausikka and tourism development work of Amar Shaheed Baba Shahmal Singh Sthal at Baraut at a cost of more than Rs.
