Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the Chief Minister Teacher Cashless Medical Scheme from the holy city of Varanasi, aiming to provide health security coverage to lakhs of teachers, non-teaching employees and their dependents.
During the event, CM Yogi Adityanath highlighted the important role of teachers in shaping the future of students and said that guiding students towards the right path is not only the responsibility of teachers but also a national duty.
The Chief Minister said that the government is committed to ensuring the welfare, dignity and security of education personnel who contribute significantly to nation-building.
Health Security Cover for 12 Lakh Teachers and Staff
Under the Chief Minister Teacher Cashless Medical Scheme, around 12 lakh teachers, non-teaching staff and their family members will receive health security benefits. The initiative aims to reduce financial difficulties faced by education employees during medical emergencies by providing access to cashless treatment facilities.
CM Yogi said that protecting the health and well-being of teachers is essential because they play a key role in building a strong and educated society.
₹1,200 DBT Transfer for 1.10 Crore Students
On the occasion, financial assistance of ₹1,200 per student was transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into the bank accounts of parents of nearly 1.10 crore students.
The government said the initiative is aimed at supporting students and helping families meet educational requirements effectively.
Basic Education Department Signs MoU with SBI
During the programme, an important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged between the Basic Education Department and the State Bank of India (SBI).

The agreement will help provide social security coverage to around 10 lakh teachers and contractual employees associated with the education department. The initiative is expected to strengthen financial protection for education workers.
Recognition for Clean and Green Schools
The event also witnessed the felicitation of principals and headmasters of schools selected at the national level for their efforts towards maintaining clean and green campuses.
CM Yogi Adityanath congratulated all teachers, principals, headmasters and education department personnel for their dedication and contribution towards improving the quality of education.
