CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurates ‘Run for Unity’ in Lucknow on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, pays tribute to the Iron Man of India, promotes national unity, integrity, and social harmony.
On the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the ‘Run for Unity’ event in Lucknow, honoring the legacy of the Iron Man of India. The event witnessed a massive turnout of citizens, students, and volunteers, all participating to promote national unity, integrity, and patriotism.
CM Yogi Adityanath paid floral tribute to Sardar Patel’s statue and emphasized the importance of implementing Patel’s principles in daily life. “True homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who dedicated his life to India’s unity and integrity, is to embody his ideals in our actions,” said the CM. He stressed that India’s sovereignty and unity must never be compromised, reinforcing the message that no attempt to disrupt the nation’s integrity would be tolerated.

Highlighting Patel’s monumental achievements, CM Yogi stated that after India gained independence, Sardar Patel integrated over 563 princely states to form a united India. When some states, including Hyderabad and Junagadh, initially resisted integration, Patel first sought dialogue but took firm action to protect national unity when necessary. “His courage, vision, and patriotism continue to inspire every Indian,” he added.
The CM also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for continuing Patel’s vision by promoting national unity and commemorating Patel’s contributions through initiatives like the ‘Statue of Unity’ in Kevadia, Gujarat. He announced that a cultural delegation and artisans from Uttar Pradesh would visit Kevadia on November 12 to pay tribute and promote local handicrafts, strengthening both the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative and self-reliance among artisans.
CM Yogi emphasized that the ‘Run for Unity’ is more than just a marathon—it is a celebration of India’s unity, integrity, and social harmony. Across 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh, similar events encouraged citizens to rise above caste, regional, and religious divisions for the greater good of the nation.
Concluding his address, the CM called on citizens to actively oppose divisive practices based on caste, nepotism, or untouchability and work together to strengthen national and social unity. He also extended his greetings on social media, calling upon people to celebrate National Unity Day by drawing inspiration from Sardar Patel’s life and efforts to secure India’s sovereignty.
Key dignitaries, including Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna, BJP state president Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, and several MPs and MLAs, attended the event.
