In a major push towards inclusive urban development, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has approved a special budget allocation of ₹728 crore for the comprehensive development of the Yamunapar region in East Delhi. The funding aims to significantly improve essential civic infrastructure, including roads, sewer systems, waste management, and traffic regulation.
Addressing the initiative, CM Rekha Gupta said that Yamunapar had remained neglected for nearly 27 years, resulting in slow-paced development and infrastructure gaps. Under the vision of Viksit Delhi, the government is now committed to making Yamunapar an equal and decisive contributor to the capital’s growth story.
Mission-Mode Development of Basic Amenities
The approved budget will be utilized in a mission-mode approach to upgrade key public services across the region. Planned initiatives include the construction and repair of roads, strengthening of sewer networks, deployment of modern waste management systems, and implementation of structured traffic management solutions. These measures are expected to enhance daily life and improve overall urban mobility for residents.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that the Viksit Yamunapar initiative is not just a policy announcement but a firm commitment to improving the quality of life for residents of East Delhi. She highlighted the government’s goal of transforming Yamunapar into a clean, secure, and well-connected urban zone equipped with modern facilities.
According to the CM Rekha Gupta, improved access to education, healthcare, transportation, and sanitation will remain central to the development plan. She expressed confidence that Yamunapar would emerge as a new development model for Delhi, setting benchmarks for other regions to follow.
Key Leaders Attend Review Meeting
The announcement was made during a meeting held at the Delhi Secretariat, which was attended by Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra, Yamunapar Area Development Board Chairman and MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely, along with other board members. The meeting reviewed implementation strategies to ensure timely and transparent execution of projects funded under the special budget.
The Delhi government reiterated its commitment to balanced regional development and assured residents that tangible improvements would be visible on the ground in the coming months.
