Delhi CM Rekha Gupta hits out at Rahul Gandhi for his Chhath remarks, calling them politically immature and an insult to millions of devotees.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of “insulting the faith of millions of devotees” through his recent remarks on the Chhath festival. The BJP leader said Gandhi’s comments reflect “political immaturity” and show a disconnect from India’s culture and traditions.
Rekha Gupta Campaigns in Bihar
On Wednesday, CM Rekha Gupta campaigned for BJP candidates in Bihar, addressing multiple rallies and a roadshow in Muzaffarpur’s Bochaha, Patna’s Malasalami (Patna Sahib), and Danapur assembly constituencies.
Gupta, who is on a two-day visit to Bihar, will also hold campaign events in Madhuban and Dinara (Rohtas) constituencies on Thursday. Her campaign aims to connect with women voters and highlight the BJP government’s commitment to development, faith, and cleanliness.
“Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks Show Political Immaturity”
Taking a strong stand against the RJD-Congress alliance, Gupta alleged that the coalition had “ruined Bihar” during its rule. She criticized Rahul Gandhi for mocking the Chhath festival and “ridiculing Mother Yamuna,” saying it was deeply offensive to millions of devotees who worship during the holy festival.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Gupta wrote: “Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on Chhath are a gross insult to the faith of millions. His statements reflect political immaturity and a mindset distanced from Indian culture, Sanatan tradition, and folk beliefs.”
BJP’s Commitment to Faith and Cleanliness
The Chief Minister highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Delhi government ensured a “remarkable confluence of faith and cleanliness” during Chhath celebrations at Yamuna ghats.
“Earlier, devotees were forced to offer prayers amid foam and filth, but this time, they experienced clean and organized ghats. This is BJP’s culture — where faith stands above politics,” Gupta said.
She also accused the Congress of resorting to “cheap personal attacks” and “negative politics” due to the lack of a clear agenda for Bihar.
Focus on Bihar Poll Campaign
According to BJP sources, CM Rekha Gupta and other senior Delhi leaders have joined the Bihar campaign to strengthen the party’s presence. Ministers Ashish Sood and Kapil Mishra are expected to campaign in the state over the coming days.
A large-scale Chhath Puja arrangement in Delhi will also feature in Gupta’s campaign narrative, symbolizing the BJP’s outreach to women and migrant voters from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
