Delhi faces law and order crisis with six murders in 24 hours; AAP questions LG and central government, criticizes BJP’s negligence and unsafe infrastructure.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has raised serious concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi, highlighting six murders within 24 hours and criticizing the silence of the Lieutenant Governor (LG) and the central government.
Arvind Kejriwal, National Convener of AAP, blamed the BJP-led administration for negligence and mismanagement, stating that the continuous lapses in public safety and unmaintained drains and open pits have led to tragic deaths of innocent citizens. Speaking to the media, he said, “The BJP government has brought Delhi to a state of collapse in just one year. They show no concern for public safety. How many more lives will be lost before this negligent government wakes up?”
Dangerous Open Drains and Pits
AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bhardwaj expressed alarm over increasing incidents of deaths and injuries due to open drains and pits across the capital. According to him, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) under LG Vinay Kumar Saxena is responsible for maintaining the city’s waterways, yet numerous unprotected drains remain a hazard to residents. Bhardwaj said, “Earlier, the LG used to monitor such issues personally, but now he has been absent for over a year, leaving citizens at risk while the BJP administration ignores its responsibility.”
Blame Shifting and Accountability Issues
Bhardwaj further accused the BJP of constantly shifting blame. He cited a previous incident in East Delhi where a youth fell into a DDA drain; the administration quickly blamed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Today, Bhardwaj says, every failing in Delhi—whether open pits, collapsed buildings, or unattended drains—falls under the BJP government’s responsibility, including schools and children’s safety.
Six Murders in 24 Hours
Highlighting the alarming crime surge, Bhardwaj said that six murders occurred in Delhi within just 24 hours, including teenagers in 9th and 10th grade. Some victims were stabbed in the head. Despite these violent incidents, there has been no response from the LG, Union Home Minister, or Chief Minister, creating a perception of lawlessness in the city.
AAP Highlights a Divided Delhi
On social media, Bhardwaj described Delhi as being divided into two realities: one for the citizens facing danger and crime daily, and another for Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, where life appears festive, safe, and carefree. He remarked, “While ordinary citizens face deaths due to open drains and violence, the CM enjoys festivals, functions, and celebrations. Is this fair? How can any mother tolerate such neglect if it involved her own child?”
AAP’s statement underscores growing public dissatisfaction with the BJP government’s handling of safety, urban infrastructure, and overall governance in the national capital. Citizens, activists, and political leaders are demanding immediate action to restore safety and accountability in Delhi.
