Delhi government announces major reforms: DTC to operate all buses from April 1, 2026, water bodies revival, and e-waste eco park for cleaner environment.
The Delhi government has announced significant reforms in public transport and environmental management. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa revealed that 12 PUC centers failing to meet required standards have been issued notices and blacklisted, reflecting the administration’s firm stance on pollution control.
During a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, several key decisions were taken to improve Delhi’s transport and ecological systems. Minister Sirsa highlighted that operations previously handled by DIMTS will now be fully managed by Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), facilitating better route rationalization and service efficiency.
Major Decision 1: DTC to Take Over All Bus Services
From April 1, 2026, all bus services currently run by DIMTS will be discontinued, with the Delhi Transport Corporation assuming full responsibility. The government aims to enhance operational efficiency, ensure buses run on schedule, and provide commuters with a more reliable and convenient public transport system.

Major Decision 2: Reviving Delhi’s Water Bodies
The Delhi government will undertake the revival of lakes and water sources across the city. This initiative is expected to improve groundwater levels, ensure water availability, and promote natural biodiversity. Protecting clean water sources will also be a key focus of this project.
Major Decision 3: E-Waste Eco Park in Holambi Kalan
Delhi will also see the establishment of an E-Waste Eco Park in Holambi Kalan. The park aims to ensure the scientific and safe disposal of electronic waste, strengthening environmental conservation and sustainable waste management practices.
Additional Measures for Pollution Control
Even after the removal of GRAP restrictions, the “No PUC, No Fuel” policy remains enforced. Minister Sirsa noted that four new testing stations for commercial vehicles have been approved, and high-rise buildings will now implement mist systems to control dust. Strict action has been taken against polluting factories, with DPCC issuing 411 closure notices and MCD sealing 400 factories.
The Delhi government emphasized that these decisions are designed not just to meet current needs but also to lay a strong foundation for a clean environment, better public services, and a sustainable future for coming generations.
