Delhi CM Rekha Gupta holds a high-level meeting on rising pollution. Strict action to be taken against polluting industries and vehicles. MCD directed for daily cleaning as Delhi’s AQI crosses 400.
Delhi Pollution Update: As pollution levels in the national capital continue to rise, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has taken a firm stance to combat the deteriorating air quality. On Monday, November 3, the CM Rekha Gupta held a high-level meeting at the Delhi Secretariat to review the city’s pollution situation and discuss immediate control measures.
The meeting was attended by PWD Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Development Minister Kapil Mishra, Social Welfare Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh, Chief Secretary Rajiv Verma, and senior officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and other key departments.
CM Rekha Gupta Issues Strict Warning
During the meeting, CM Rekha Gupta stated that pollution control remains the top priority of her government. She announced that strict action will be taken against industrial units and vehicles responsible for spreading pollution. Dedicated teams from multiple departments have been formed to conduct daily inspections and submit reports.
She also warned that no negligence will be tolerated, and officers failing to act against violators will face strict disciplinary action.
MCD Gets Clear Directives for Cleanliness Drive
Following the meeting, CM Rekha Gupta revealed that the government has identified several pollution hotspots in Delhi, where special drives are being conducted. These include water sprinkling, dust control measures, and intensive cleaning operations.
The MCD has been directed to ensure daily cleaning of roads, markets, and residential areas. Garbage collection must be expedited, and waste dumps should be cleared immediately to prevent dust pollution.

Winter Pollution Preparedness Plan
CM Rekha Gupta highlighted that the government is preparing in advance for the winter pollution surge, which typically worsens between November and January. She added that the administration is even considering providing heaters to night guards in markets and colonies to prevent them from burning wood or waste for warmth—one of the key causes of nighttime smog.
“Clean and Healthy Delhi Is Our Priority” – Sirsa
Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the Delhi government is coordinating with all agencies to reduce emissions. He mentioned that the MCD has been asked to double the deployment of water sprinklers and intensify dust control operations.
“Our focus is clear — to make Delhi clean and healthy again. We are working round-the-clock to ensure citizens breathe cleaner air in the coming weeks,” said Sirsa.
Pollution in Delhi Crosses “Severe” Levels
Every year, Delhi faces alarming levels of pollution in November due to stubble burning, vehicle emissions, and construction dust. The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) has already crossed 400, placing it in the “severe” category.
In response, CM Gupta has personally taken charge of the “Delhi Swachh Hawa Mission” (Clean Air Mission), which aims to implement modern pollution-control technology and enhance real-time monitoring.
The Delhi government’s aggressive stance reflects its commitment to protecting citizens’ health and restoring the city’s air quality through innovation, coordination, and accountability.
