In a significant move to enhance pedestrian safety, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta laid the foundation of a new foot over bridge near Kashmiri Gate ISBT on Thursday. The bridge will serve commuters at the bustling Monastery Market and Ladakh Buddha Vihar areas, providing a safe crossing over the busy roads.
The construction of the Kashmiri Gate New foot over bridge aims to improve pedestrian convenience while reducing the risk of accidents in one of Delhi’s busiest zones. The new bridge will feature two lifts and will be designed keeping in mind the local Ladakh architectural style, ensuring both safety and aesthetic appeal.
Addressing the media, CM Rekha Gupta highlighted that this long-standing demand from the residents of Ladakh Buddha Vihar is finally being fulfilled. “For years, the local community requested a New foot over bridge here. Today, we are making it a reality, ensuring safer and easier movement for pedestrians,” she said.

The new bridge is expected to streamline traffic flow along Ring Road while offering a secure passage for pedestrians traveling to Monastery Market and Ladakh Buddha Vihar. Prominent leaders, including MP Praveen Khandelwal, Cabinet colleague Pravesh Sahib Singh, and Ladakh BJP President Tashi Gyalson Khachu, were present at the foundation ceremony.
With the Kashmiri Gate New foot over bridge, Delhi takes another step toward modernizing urban infrastructure and prioritizing pedestrian safety, aligning with the city’s broader development initiatives.
