NDMC launches ₹9.45 crore Lodhi Colony electricity upgrade project to ensure stable voltage, reduce power cuts, and implement smart power distribution for residents.
In a significant step towards modernizing power infrastructure, the NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council) has launched a Lodhi Colony electricity upgrade project worth ₹9.45 crore. The project aims to improve the reliability and stability of electricity supply in the area, ensuring voltage stabilization and a reduction in frequent power cuts.
The inauguration ceremony took place at Central Park Corner, Main Market, Lodhi Colony, with Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh and New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj jointly laying the foundation for the project. Local residents, NDMC officials, and council members, including Anil Valmiki and Sarita Tomar, were also present at the event.
Upgrading Old Infrastructure
Lodhi Colony’s electricity network, originally designed in the 1960s, was built to handle a mere one-kilowatt load per flat. With the growing use of modern electrical appliances, the load now ranges from five to ten kilowatts per flat. This has caused frequent electricity cut problems, voltage fluctuations, and reliability issues.

₹9.45 Crore NDMC Power Project
The NDMC power project will upgrade the entire distribution network. The project includes:
Installation of 40 SCADA-compatible smart feeder pillars
Laying of 7.5 km of LT 1.1 kV 400 sq mm cables and 20.12 km of LT 1.1 kV 25 sq mm cables
Connection from the 33 kV Aliganj (Jor Bagh) substation to five 11 kV substations in Lodhi Colony using 0.5 km of 11 kV 400 sq mm cables
This upgrade ensures smart power distribution, improves system efficiency, and minimizes electricity interruptions for residents.
Smart Technology for Better Monitoring
With the integration of smart technology, NDMC aims to monitor and control electricity supply in real time. The new system will allow for quick detection of faults, stable voltage, and uninterrupted power, making the Lodhi Colony electricity upgrade project a benchmark for modern urban power infrastructure.
