In a significant step towards empowering women and promoting inclusive public transport, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced the launch of the ‘Pink Saheli Smart Card’. This new initiative aims to provide free and convenient travel for women and transgender individuals on Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and cluster buses. Women aged 12 and above across the capital will now be able to enjoy hassle-free free travel without purchasing multiple tickets.
Speaking about the initiative, CM Rekha Gupta emphasized that the card is a major step in promoting women’s mobility, increasing public transport usage, and ensuring respect and facilities for women across Delhi.
Historic Move in Education: Recognition for Private Schools in Non-Compliant Areas
Meanwhile, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood announced another landmark decision under the visionary leadership of CM Rekha Gupta. The government has approved recognition for private unaided schools operating in non-compliant areas of the city. This reform will restore the constitutional right to education for thousands of children who were previously deprived due to lack of recognition.
According to the official notification, private unaided schools operating in non-compliant areas, which could not obtain recognition due to procedural challenges or discriminatory approaches of previous governments, are now eligible to apply for recognition through the Delhi Education Directorate’s online portal. The application process opened on November 1, 2025, and interested schools can submit applications until November 30, 2025.
Once the application process concludes, the Education Directorate will review submissions and release a list of schools that meet all prescribed criteria for official recognition.
With the launch of the Pink Saheli Smart Card and the recognition of private schools, the Delhi government has taken decisive steps towards enhancing women’s safety and mobility while ensuring access to quality education for the city’s children.
