The Delhi government has announced a series of measures to tackle worsening air quality during the winter months. The Delhi Pollution 2026 plan includes higher parking charges, revised office timings, a 50 per cent work-from-home arrangement and restrictions on construction and demolition activities.
The measures will be implemented in phases from November and are aimed at reducing vehicle emissions, dust pollution and other major sources of air pollution in the national capital.
Parking Charges to Double From November 1
Under the new Delhi Pollution 2026 measures, parking charges at authorised parking facilities will be doubled from November 1, 2026. The increased charges will remain in place until February 28, 2027.
Parking facilities owned and managed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will remain outside the scope of this measure.
The government has introduced the higher parking fees to discourage the use of private vehicles and encourage people to consider public transport during the winter pollution season.
50% Work From Home for Offices
The Delhi government has also directed government and private offices to reduce their in-office workforce by 50 per cent between November 1 and February 28.
Under the arrangement, half of the employees will work from home while the remaining 50 per cent will work from offices. The move is intended to reduce daily commuting and the number of vehicles on Delhi’s roads.
The Delhi Pollution 2026 strategy also includes changes to office timings to help manage traffic movement across the city.
Revised Office Timings
From November 1, offices under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will operate from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Offices under the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) will function from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm.
The revised timings will remain applicable until February 28, 2027.

Construction and Demolition Restrictions
The government has announced restrictions on construction and demolition work as part of the Delhi Pollution 2026 measures.
Dust-generating demolition activities and outdoor civil construction work will be prohibited from November 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027.
In addition, a complete ban on construction and demolition activities will remain in force from December 10, 2026, to January 20, 2027.
These restrictions are aimed at controlling dust emissions, which are considered one of the important contributors to Delhi’s air pollution.
CM Rekha Gupta Holds Pollution Control Meeting
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta held a meeting at Paryavaran Bhawan on Monday to review preparations for controlling air pollution. Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav and Delhi Food and Supplies Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa were also present.
The Chief Minister’s Office said the government is focusing on major pollution sources through enforcement, monitoring and coordination between departments.
Sirsa also said that maintaining clean air and a healthy environment is a responsibility that extends beyond the winter season. He said pollution-control efforts are being carried out throughout the year and that the government would strengthen these measures based on directions and suggestions discussed during the meeting.
